Puneet Chhatwal

Puneet Chhatwal is the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer of The Rezidor Hotel Group. In this position, he oversees growth for one of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world and takes an active role in maximizing the profitability of the existing portfolio.

Puneet started his career as a Management Trainee with the India Tourism Development Corporation, eventually occupying management positions within the hotels division. After several operational positions in India, Puneet studied at IMHI (Essec), Paris on a French Government scholarship. He earned a degree in International Hospitality Management to complement his previous bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi and his diploma in Food Service and Hotel Management.


Upon completing his advanced studies, Puneet worked in Hotel Consulting and Acquisitions for The Feuring Group, where he helped grow the firm from a small office into an important regional player. From 1998-2002, he served as the Director of Development for the EMEA region for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, where he pioneered the growth of Carlson’s brands in the region.  

Joining Rezidor in 2002 as Director of Business Development, Puneet was subsequently promoted to Vice President Business Development in 2004 and to Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer in August 2007. Puneet and his international team of developers have grown the Rezidor portfolio to over 60,000 rooms in operation with a further 20,000 under development. In 2008 and 2009, Rezidor has had two consecutive years of record growth in terms of rooms opened.

Puneet is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a member of the Advisory Board of several international conferences. He is married and has two children.
